| The doric style of construction reached maturity during the Classic Period in the greek building known as the Parthenon. The architects Iktinus and Kallikrates built it in the short time between 448 and 432 BC. It is the central building of the Athenian Acropolis. The Parthenon was sacred to the goddess Athena Parthenos. It's sculptural ornamentation was produced under the greek artist Phidias. |
