This building was built by an army of architects, landscape designers, and sculptors. 30,000 men and 6,000 horses were needed. Today it would have cost 10 billon dollars to create. The garden around the palace takes up 250 acres. A river was diverted to keep the 600 fountains flowing and the main hall was lit by 3000 candles for ceremonies.

Why- In typical Baroque fashion, the vast lateral extension of the facade has been broken up into units and subunits of threes. The most famous of the literally hundreds of rooms is the "Galetie des Glaces". (Hall of Mirrors)
