Computer Graphics- This class in the Sayre
High School art course of study is available to students who have completed at
least 2 years of art studio within the art
department. The course centers around the techniques and skills required to
develop quality graphics that can be applied to various applications associated
with art and technology. Students learn proper skills needed for appropriate
computer usage and are guided in the procedures used to produce both accurate
and original concepts using the latest software in the computer market. Much
emphasis is placed on the students to develop independent, creative working
skills. All work is both graded by the instructor and self-evaluated by the

1 |
During this term, the students complete the Photoshop5
tutorial which has 4 complete lessons that teach the many options of the
software that is the basis of the course. Two art related activities are
included after the tutorial to test for understanding and student application
of information covered during the semester. |
| Semester
2 |
This marking period deals with the understanding of
value within art media and it's application both in mono-chromatic and
color situations. Concentrated examination of this concept is used to complete

| Semester
3 |
This unit deals with the skills needed to develop in the
area of drawing. After review of drawing skills given earlier in the junior
high offerings, the students complete a series of 5 drawings selected from a
set of ten drawing problems that are designed to expose students to a variety
of drawing options that broaden the students understanding of the drawing
medium. The semester also includes the skills involved in lettering both formal
and informal. This includes an opportunity to demonstrate the understanding of
those concepts combined with the skills acquired in the drawing unit.(

4 |
This semester is devoted to the rendering of the human
form. Understanding and demonstrations of different approaches are stressed in
the unit to allow the students to develop strategies for their own solution to
the design problem. The studio offering concludes with a critique of the
students 4 best works of the year shown in portfolio style for final
