7th Grade7th Grade- Students entering our school come from many different schools and learning environments. The focus of the art department at this level is to begin the students understanding of art through experience with art media and exposure to contemporary artists that use similar media and techniques in their work. (9 weeks per semester.)
Color In this unit the students are taught the colors involved in the color wheel and how they are made. Also, they learn about tints, shades, complementary and chromacolors. Sculpture This unit introduces the new students to the concepts involved with the creation of artwork in the 3rd dimension. The human form is usually used as the theme and sculptures are created by each student using a variety of media. Application of color to accent the forms is included.(Report: Alexander Calder)

Drawing This unit uses the understanding gained in the first two units in the area of perspective. All types of linear perspective are covered in addition to the primary concept of aerial perspective. The final project is done in 2pt. oblique using values of color to enhance the solution.(Report: David Smith)

Printing This area is intended to teach both the skills of the graphics process and the concept of working together as a class. Block printing is the media and it is approached in a variety of ways always focusing on the terms and processes needed.(Report: Henri Matisse)
