The
Art Room- We are indeed fortunate to have such a
wonderful art room as we do. The work area is second to none in size,
cleanliness and features. The space was at one time 2 rooms, used by two
teachers, one junior high and the other senior high. Due to enrollment
the space has been opened up and it has allowed for more classes and
students to enjoy the art department. Features of the room include: 4
large sink areas, dual clay storage bins and moisture cabinets, 2 large
storage closets, 4 computer work stations for student use, and a large
display case for project exhibition. |

This view of the art room shows the center of the
room where the teachers desks are located. In the top right you can see
the lesson plan display board and in the bottom left you can see "the
now trademarked" red and blue
tables. |
 |
These computers are for student use only. They
have Photoshop5 installed on them and Adobe PhotoDeluxe for graphic
applications. In addition the students can go into the network and save
their work along with work they may have saved from other classes. |

This photo shows one set of the two clay storage
areas that were designed into the art room. The 2 clay storage bins
attach to the sink island on both sides, and the 2 moisture cabinets
hold 3 layers of projects apiece on both sides of the sink area. |
 |
This photo shows the size of the art room by
looking across the junior high side all the way over to the far wall.
Ample seating is available for the students and the opportunity to
contain different media to areas within the room is easy to maintain. |

This is one of the two sink areas that are located
in the art room. Designed as an island, the sinks are very easy to
access by many students at one time. |
 |
The Teacher work station is equipped with (from
left to right) a 11x14 color scanner, a CD Rom computer with "Super
disk"options to transport 100 meg disks throughout the room, a 17"
monitor and a X-Print 4-color printer. |

Throwing on the wheel is one of the best parts of
any ceramic program. We have two wheels in the ceramic area of our
classroom and they run non-stop daily. |
 |
The display area is approximately 6 feet wide by 6
feet tall and 3 feet deep. It has a glass shelf that is adjustable to
hold additional projects. The case lights up with an external switch to
enhance the projects that are contained within. Two glass doors that
lock serve as the front and protect the works quite well.

The light tables in our
art room are used to transfer sketches to final drafts on finish paper
stock. Plagiarism is not tolerated in any art studio class. Students in
the studio offerings at Sayre are very familiar with this area of the
art room. |
