Byzantine Art Justinan and Attendants
Here Justinian shows himself as a holy representative of god as symbolized by the halo. He and Theodora are participating in a church service. Justinian is shown carrying the bread and Theodora the wine. The X and P on the shield represent the greek letters chi and rho which are the first two letters of the greek word for Christ.
