{short description of image} Seated Boxer
An example of very late Hellenistic sculpture, this piece shows a heavily battered veteran of the arena resting. The sculptor speaks to our emotions rather than to our intellect. It obviously shows a fighter past his prime. Realism and human interest became the Hellenistic artist's interest at the end of the development of this sculpture.
