Painting --15th Century Italian Art-- Gates of Paradise
Declared by Michelangelo to be so fine that they could "fitting stand at the gates of paradise", these east doors of the Florence Cathedral were the beginnings of the new 10 panel design used in Ghibertis work. In the panels, as the eye progresses upwards the relief becomes flatter and flatter creating a "sculptors aerial perspective".
